Pick the Plot Trailer Transcript

Welcome to Pick the Plot. I’m Rebecca McKinnon, your host for this interactive story experience. Each season we’ll travel through an original story together. At the end of every episode there will be different paths our story could take.

It’s up to you to decide which path we follow by voting at www.rebeccamckinnon.com/picktheplot. Voting will be open for one week. When the poll closes, I’ll write the next part of the story – and it will be based entirely on what you asked for.

For even more input, you’ll want to follow us on Instagram @pick_the_plot. That’s where we post polls on other details to appear in the story. These details could be anything from a character’s name, to an episode title, to minor story spoilers.

I have always loved stories. Reading them, telling them, and creating them. As a child, my stories occasionally took the shape of lies – because I could make up stories that were way more interesting than the boring truth. I wrote a lot of short stories when I was young, but I wasn’t serious about storytelling until later.

As a teenager I started, then abandoned, an adventure story. Eventually my sister found it, sat down and read as much as there was, then yelled at me for leaving things the way I had and begged me to finish it. I never did finish that story, but her wish for more made me realize I could entertain others with the antics of my ink and paper friends. What’s more, I enjoyed it.

And so I became a storyteller, dipping into my daydreams to write books for others to enjoy.

Now I’m branching out, expanding my world of stories and imagination into this experience where the people the stories are for can participate in a very real way.
