Get ready for a read along of The Yarn That Binds!

Gather together your copy of the book, your imagination, and your sense of adventure.

Don’t forget to search out your favorite reading spot!

Here’s how it’s going to work:

I’ve divided the book into thirds — you can find the reading chapters for each week listed below!

Stay tuned to my Instagram and Facebook accounts for activities and special behind-the-scenes surprises throughout each week. Be sure to follow me so you can participate! Some of the activities will only be on Instagram — it’s just where they’ll work the best! Don’t have social media? I’ll post a lot of it on my website, too.

This is meant to be interactive, so it would be fantastic if you could add #ReadTheYarn to your posts so I can find them and you can check out what everyone else is doing, too.

Even if you can’t join in with the reading this time, you can still participate in the activities (of course, they’ll make more sense if you’ve already read the book).

Week 1 (Sept 12-18): Author note, Chapters 1-8
Week 2 (Sept 19-25): Chapters 9-16
Week 3 (Sept 26-Oct 3): Chapters 17-25

Week 1

Come with me to Clear Creek!

When you read do you just look at the words, or do you visualize it all?
Our first big activity for the read along is to think about Clear Creek as it is in your imagination. If you were to turn the book into a movie, what location would you use?

Let’s talk music! What songs is The Yarn That Binds making you think of? Check out the Spotify Playlist!

Clear Creek has some adorable shops. Which one is your favorite?

Now that we’re a little ways into the book, do you have a favorite character?

Let’s play casting director! Who would you cast as: Jemma, Brandon, Granny, Kitty, and Emmilene? It doesn’t have to be real actors — you could even cast yourself!

Today’s activity is a word search puzzle! You can get it here.

f you were headed out into the world for a long time and had to live out of a suitcase like Jemma did for … let’s say a year … What would you pack?

Does Jemma have you curious about yarn? Let’s take a quick trip to the yarn store! Then I’ll show you some yarn weights and fibers.

For today’s activity you get to design a new logo for Jemma’s shop, Clear Creek Yarns & Woolies.
Now, don’t panic, it doesn’t have to look professional! It could just be a doodled sketch. 😉

For the read along, I had a link to a puzzle, but it wasn’t available for long, so I’m putting the image below.

If you’d like to use it in a book club, feel free to print it out, then cut it into puzzle pieces!
